In September 2019, over 400 recovery community members come out to support our Recovery Walk in Ghana. The walk was held in Kasoa, a suburb outside of Ghana’s capital Accra. The theme this year was ‘Kicking out Addiction Together!’. The walk was successful and well attended due to the enthusiastic participation of local recovery community members, their family members and the residents of surrounding community. Damien Gaul a visitor from the US participated in the walk. The walk began at a local school because the owner was interested in and had been involved in addiction work. Presbyterian Church’s Blue Cross was the primary contingent, along with residents of Kasoa, representatives from local rehab centers, churches, youth groups, Recovery Africa’s primary partner Hopeful Way Foundation and other Ghanaian non-profit organizations that provide treatment and recovery services for the local recovery community. Two brass bands provided the walkers with music.
